Carine - Grandmother Diamonds

Carine - Grandmother Diamonds

One of the latest pieces I was lucky enough to work on was a very sentimental, beautiful wedding ring for a very lovely lady who is getting married in Hawaii later on this year! Her engagement ring is a round solitaire diamond and she wanted something quite unique as her wedding ring. Here is what she had to say.

"Todd and I got together in our early 20's. We have had such a wonderful life so far and have grown so much along the way. 10 years on and we are ready to step into the new chapter of our lives as husband and wife.

As I am the only Granddaughter on my Dad's side, my Gran has given me her engagement ring, and her mothers engagement ring, which the amazingly talented Michelle has used to create one unique wedding ring for me. We decided to combine both of their special histories into my future, and fit the wedding ring perfectly to my engagement ring, symbolising my family history joining together with my future. It is something I will cherish forever.

I am so excited to marry my best friend later in the year and am so fortunate that my Gran is still in my life as she is such a strong and caring woman. I cannot wait to show the finished product, and always carry a part of her with me forever. Thank you Michelle."

Both original engagement rings had old cut diamonds in them, one with three stones and one with just one. Four stones is never an easy thing to work with as generally speaking odd numbers look a lot more balanced. Knowing the meaning behind these beautiful old diamonds, we decided they will work just fine together. I designed the shape and spacing to suit Carine's engagement ring perfectly, despite every diamond being a different size to the next. Somehow, it seems to just work perfectly, like it was meant to be!

This would have to be one of my favourite parts of my job. The beautiful sentimental value of jewellery and how special every single ring is. How beautiful that the lovely Carine will have something so special from her previous generations to wear on her hand, every day for the rest of her life, and one day, even to pass onto her Granddaughter. It absolutely melts my heart!!
